We will leave the personal politics and issues aside regarding Sarah Palin here. Let us discuss the double standard in some small detail. Qualifications or lack thereof is of little interest in how she is being treated except that she is not a leftist icon (where such portrayal would be vehemently attacked by NOW and other left groups).

I will begin with a simple premise: Sexism is wrong. Based upon courses I was forced to take and the monopoly the left has in determining what is and is not sexist and racist I find the hypocrisy more than disturbing.

It seems to the left, who preach that everyone on the right are racist, sexist and homophobic, suffer from exactly the same problems when dealing with someone like Sarah Palin. Wasn't it a nice comment to 'Bork' conservative judge nominees? How was Clarence Thomas treated as an African American compared to his liberal analogues?

Is there a standard that holds for everyone? It seems it is made up as we go along. Why force these subjects to be taught as graduation requirements in universities if there is no validity save to indoctrinate people to the left?!?

So, encourage Obama to campaign for more candidates (what better reason could have showed up to encourage people to vote against the Democratic leaders). Let the magazine articles continue in their portrayal of people on the right as they never would those they agree with. Many are finding it very motivating. We know who they are, what they are and they have been arrogant in displaying where they stand.

First, i have already said I am no Sarah Palin fan. And I cannot imagine voting for her...for anything. That said, the media spends a lot of time on a women who currently is fourth in polling for the Republican nomination. Why? Same with Carrie Prejean...who cares about her? A beauty pageant contestant is worth all of this time?

The more I see this, the more I really think it is a women thing. I laughed at Hillary Clinton when she whined about being treated differently...but that appears to be the case. All I am doing is defending her right to voice her opinion. The market of ideas will decide how important she is. But the left, and the media (including commentators on the right e.g. Rush Limbaugh) give a 2 year governor of Alaska way too much attention for no good reason whatsoever, whether the attention is good or bad.

As a conservative woman, I dislike your assertion in the title that all conservative women = Sarah Palin.

I've been a conservative all of my life, and Sarah Palin is an embarrassment. She's made a fool of herself stepping onto the national scene unprepared and without experience, and now she's making a child of herself attempting to blame everyone and every organization that didn't kiss her behind for her own failures.

It reminds me of the kids in my middle school class who have learned the value of getting attention, but have not learned the hardship of consequence for our actions. I'm reading her book out of pity, but I am ashamed that she is seen by so many as the face of conservative women.

The conservative women I know are leagues ahead of Palin in the brains department, and years ahead of her in the school of hard knocks.

She whines. She cries. She talks tough while running away. Real conservative women own their mistakes, grow from them, and return to fight another day. Palin is done.

And you're a fool for placing her on the pedestal you do. Highten your standards, maddam.
