Party Time! Tax Day Tea Partying…
Well, a big day for conservatives, as their grass roots efforts finally reach a culmination here on April 15, 2009, Tax Day. At least 400 Tea Parties are going on around the country, with massive public support. People are coming out for many different personal reasons; anger over the economy, distrust of an ever growing federal government, overall lack of faith in the Obama Administration, and maybe over general angst over the course this country is taking.
And just to add to the fun, our liberal colleagues appear that they will be out to spoil the party, even if it takes lies to accomplish their goal. DailyKos, Huffington Post, CodePink and others are trying to rally troops in order to make a mockery of our mockery. Liberals have no sense of humor at all, and they think that we are seriously reproducing the Boston Tea Party. Morons.
Of course, surely they will get some poor, uneducated soul to say something foolish or inane for their cameras, and then publicize it to the world as representative of the crowds that are sure to assemble tomorrow. In a similar manner that Homeland Security is trying to paint the right as extremists, liberal bloggers and the media are trying to do the same.
The reason for the liberal angst? First, they don’t honestly believe any rational person could be against the perfection of our glorious leader, President Barack Obama. Second, how could such a grass roots revolt start, especially when there doesn’t appear to be any overseeing guiding force? Heck, these protests even disregard many Republican leaders (most notably Michael Steele, who was politely refused a speaking spot at the Chicago Tea Party).
The answer is technology. In this day of bloggers (big and small), Facebook and Twitter, the message can spread virally very quickly. Local organizers in hundreds of cities around the country have been able to get from a few hundred people to tens of thousands of people to show up. This is a classic grass roots effort, which is good and bad news for the political parties. The bad news for Republicans is that in some venues they are the target of much anger. The good news for Republicans is that there is certainly more anger toward the Democrats.
The liberals are out in force, trying to paint this conservative/libertarian movement as extreme. Well, bring it on. I think the public polls show that there is generally support for our cause. People think taxes are too high, and government control over our lives is growing to a dangerous extent. And Rasmussen now shows the generic battle between Democrats and Republicans to be a dead heat…so media and liberal commentators can keep claiming that the political right is dead until they are blue in the face for all I care…the facts say otherwise.
I for one will likely go to the Tea Party planned in Columbus, Ohio, in front of the Ohio Statehouse. This is being organized by several bloggers I follow in Central Ohio (especially Justin Higgins of shotsonthehouse.com).  If nothing more, it should be fun for the people watching alone. And I would love to debate a few liberals along the way.
As Ms. Malkin says, joyfully join the extreme right by going to a Tea Party today! For anyone looking on Wednesday in Columbus, I will be the goofy Indian with a goatee and glasses, kind of like this:
And Rick Santelli didn’t hurt…and he is proud of his small part in this:

President Bush squandered the surplus left by President Clinton by giving the richest Americans a tax cut during war time for the first time in our history and we now have the largest debt in history! When Mr. Bush took the oath of office in 200l, the nonpartisan CBO projected $5.6 trillion in federal budget surpluses through 2011. Bush left a trail of deficits and debt that has sharply constrain his successor, President Obama.
A great American, Oliver Wendell Holmes, stated. “We pay tax for a civilized society!” Those whose people immigrated to America after the founding and don’t which to pay taxes should leave. They come to America and say not, “What can I do for America, but What can America do for me”? Too many immigrants think that – AMERICA – HOME OF THE BRAVE AND LAND OF THE FREE , means they don’t have to pay tax, they don’t have to serve this country in the military, they don’t have to contribute in any manner to America. The insidious ingrates who think that we came to the Colonies in the 1600s and fought, sacrificed and died for our Democracy and our Constitutional freedoms just so they could immigrate to America and enjoy the freedom for which so many brave people, including mine, sacrificed so much and not pay tax are delusional and un-American!
Those who don’t want to pay tax for civility should find another country! Bon Voyage!
Interesting, since 50% of people in this country don’t pay federal income taxes…
Wow…where to start? There are so many unsubstantiated, ignorant, cliches propagated here I don’t know where to begin.
“Well, a big day for conservatives, as their grass roots efforts finally reach a culmination” There are definitely grass-roots elements to today’s “Tea Parties” but when something is overtly promoted on a nation-wide 24-hour cable news network it also became a CORPORATE SPONSORED event.
“Liberals have no sense of humor at all, and they think that we are seriously reproducing the Boston Tea Party. Morons.” Yeah, guys like Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and their large audiences have no sense of humor. No SERIOUSLY thinks this is a reproduction of the Boston Tea Party. Calling those with different views “moron” is exactly the kind of thing that ends reasonable discussion.
“First, they don’t honestly believe any rational person could be against the perfection of our glorious leader, President Barack Obama.” I can perfectly understand why someone would object to some of President Obama’s policies, and have never once thought of him as a “glorious leader”. Portraying a widely diverse group of people with independent thought processes as brain-washed zombies is a gross underestimate of your opposition. It’s funny that you complain about liberals painting conservatives unfairly when you so easily and quickly do it yourself.
“econd, how could such a grass roots revolt start, especially when there doesn’t appear to be any overseeing guiding force?” Yeah, endless cheerleading on every conservative broadcast media outlet doesn’t represent a “guiding” force?
“The answer is technology. The bad news for Republicans is that in some venues they are the target of much anger.” You are exactly right.
“And Rasmussen now shows the generic battle between Democrats and Republicans to be a dead heat…so media and liberal commentators can keep claiming that the political right is dead until they are blue in the face for all I care…the facts say otherwise.” Well, there is definitely a lot of happy burials of the conservative cause that is unwise. However, Rasmussen polls are notoriously right-leaning, virtually every other poll shows a huge decline in people identifying themselves as Republicans (they now trail by more than 10 points in most polls) while Obama enjoys 60% approval ratings and Republicans in Congress rank lower than Dems in Congress, though Congress as a whole is perpetually ranked very low and for very good reasons.
I would suggest eliminating the name-calling and labeling of those with other views out of your debates with the “liberals”. You probably think I’m a liberal but I’m pretty damn moderate….but you would probably lump me in with the “liberals” and “socialists”. The fact is that people think for themselves and have reasons for doing so. Disagreeing with you does not make us “morons”.
“Interesting, since 50% of people in this country don’t pay federal income taxes…”
True….but, as usual, there’s more than meets the eye. First, federal income taxes make up less than 25% of all taxes. You imply that 50% of Americans don’t pay taxes but they must pay state taxes, county taxes, city taxes, and most of all sales taxes, not to mention various fees and taxes on individual purchases and activities.
why isn’t anyone puting the blame for this mess, where the blame should be; why are we allowing republican lawmakers become the facto speakers and chief complainers about the fiscal mess, when they are as guilty as bush and his friends of depleting our nation of what was left to take and more. our current president inherited this mess, and is trying to fix it, right or wrong? let time decide, one thing nobody will convince of, is that bush and his republican buddies destroyed our nation.
