Republicans Behaving Badly
Gov. Mark Sanford and Sen. John Ensign.
Morons.
I have no sympathy for these people. They, on one side, claim to hold a moral high ground. On the other, they carry on lives of betrayal. And even worse, why should people have faith in people that are faithless to their own families?
Sure, I understand that liberals often get away with this stuff. Well, too bad. Yes, conservatives are held to a higher standard; and I would argue they should be. If we want to believe we are better, then why be surprised when people call them hypocrites? And frankly, in this case the media behaved admirably. They apparently knew about the affair since December, but did not think it was relevant.
That doesn’t even start to comment on the dignified manner in which Gov. Sanford’s wife has acted. She is more than he deserves.
If you are going to hold a higher level of morals as part of your platform, you must at least live by that standard. Hypocrite is about the nicest thing I can say about these guys.
The only good thing is that these guys political careers are over.
