Abortion Mandate in Obamacare?
As if things weren’t bad enough, the White House made the stupendously stupid move of adding a provision to the health care reform bill that could mandate abortions under universal health care.
Excuse me, but are they trying to bomb their own bill?
Here is what happened. Bart Stupak of Michigan placed an amendment into the committee bill that would ban abortions from Obamacare. This led to a new ‘compromise’ amendment, led by Chairman Waxman, that in effect would leave the decision up to the Secretary of Health and Human Services…i.e. meaning abortions would be covered. The full scoop:
Although the amendment’s language appears to do away with the abortion mandate, Capitol Hill pro-lifers note that it explicitly permits the Secretary to include abortion in the services offered by the public plan. Indeed, if the Hyde amendment is reversed, the amendment would actually require that the public plan cover abortions.
With regard to the massive subsidies authorized under the act, referred to as “affordability credits,” the Capps amendment specifically requires taxpayer subsidies to flow to plans that include abortion, but creates an accounting scheme designed to give the impression that public funds will not subsidize abortion itself.
Other provisions in the Capps amendment appear to prevent state laws from being overturned and prohibit the Secretary from mandating that all plans include abortion. But the Capps amendment also requires that an abortion-covering plan be made available in every region.
Republicans and pro-life Democrats strongly criticized the amendment.
“We don’t compromise on the use of taxpayer funds for the destruction of human life,” objected Representative Phil Gingrey (R-GA).

A culture of death is a dangerous thing.
However, this is the road and philosophy of our present President. I urge extreme caution at this moral relativism. The same person who is so generous with the killing of the unborn will be just as generous with assited suicide and murder… for what else will systemic denial of life saving procedures under the inevitable rationing be called?
These are the same people who also believe we have no right to self defense. If I need to expound further to point out the bitter irony here to anyone it will only be lost upon them and therefore a waste of words.
Our nation will not prosper with a culture of death. Our future generations will not make good decisions if they cannot be entrusted with the responsibility of affecting life through poor behaviour. Whatever else abortion is or not in some circumstances it is a disgusting method of birth control in a time where there are so many options for responsible sexual intercourse.
The left strongly promoted this jackal during the run up to this election. The right to vote and be heard was promoted at every possible moment in the class rooms. However, the obligation to be responsible never was. What rights are left if we do not respect the living? The rights of life and the pursuit of happiness are fundamental to all people. Yet here they are trampled for political gains. When the life of the line is your own it may be too late to regret the opportunity lost to have saved it long before.
