Health Care: Let The War Begin
Rumors out of Washington are saying that the Democrats, who feel their chance for socialized medicine is slipping away, are ready to ‘go it alone‘ and possibly even use reconciliation to pass what they want.
We all knew this day was coming since election day 2008. This was the day that Barack Obama finally admitted that he lied to the American people. He was never a post partisan. In fact, he was the opposite…he may be the most partisan President in recent history. Yes, more partisan than Bill Clinton…and George W. Bush.
By admitting defeat so quickly, the Democrats are basically admitting their own incompetence. This was not some grand opposition of the minority party…this was failure to coalesce their own party. It is moderates in the Hosue, and moderates in the Senate, that are causing the most roadblocks to the Democrats dream of a single payer health care system. Republicans have had virtually no voice on the matter whatsoever.
If Democrats are willing to do this, and not just ignore the rules that protect the minority party but also give voice to half of this country’s population, I say go ahead. This will once and for all prove what liberals are. They are not interested in democratic voices. Their arrogance and elitism makes them believe they know better than you, that they will take care of you, because you simply cannot be relied on to run your own lives.
Frankly, politically speaking, nothing could help the Republicans more than this. I really believe that. The polls are trending toward Republicans. Why? They clearly have not shown any brilliance that I have seen. All they have done is kept their mouth shut for the most part. In turn, the Democrats are proving their incompetence. I guess people had forgotten how idiotic liberals can be, when they are in power. This is a painful but necessary lession.
As for as 2010, just watch. I have been predicting a 30 seat pickup in the house, and possibly 5 Senate seats. If they go this route, it could be a 50 seat pickup in the House, and Republicans could challenge a takeover in the Senate. I am not in a dream world. Look at the polls. Every day that Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and the Democrats try to push health care, their numbers drop. And once they declare the Republicans null and void…everything belongs to them. The bad economy, the unemployment numbers, and even health care. And remember…health care will not be in force until 2013…and the American public is simply not that patient.
This is already a party who is afraid to face their own constituents. They have fooled themselves into believing these are fringe protesters coming to disrupt townhalls. That simply is not the case, not when the polls show supermajorities against Obamacare. I know independents against this. Heck, I know devout Obama supporters, who worked on his campaign last year, that have doubts about what they are doing. They did not vote for this. Democrats are oblivious if they think they received a liberal mandate: they certainly did not.
So if they want to make the political environment significantly worse, and hurt their own political futures, go ahead. Frankly, it is the fault of the American people for trusting these people in the first place. And from the beginning, Republicans could do little to stop them. Elections mean things, and this one could have dire consequences. But lets not forget…there is an election in 12 months, and at that point, these people will have to answer for any idiocy they present to us today. Many on both sides of the aisle are predicting huge Democratic losses next year, and this maneuver will only make things worse. Why? Because now Republicans have no reason to negotiate on anything. Their supporters will push them to be more strident, more opposing, to everything. So Obama will naturally have to move more to the left, because of the environment he is creating…and farther from the mainstream of the American Public.
Our job is to make sure our voices are heard. We must continue to fight. Townhalls will be ending soon, as Congress goes back to D.C.. But that will not stop our voice. We must continue to organize and protest. We must target those moderate Democrats who are most vulnerable. They are the key. They have a choice: simply, they must choose between their constituents and any chance of being re-elected, and the vast left wing conspiracy. It is their choice. But ultimately, it is clear that Barack Obama won’t save them. They need US to keep their jobs, and we should remind them of that at every turn.
So the fight goes on. The war begins. Time to get to work.

“Republicans have been silent…”??? As Rep. Frank would say, what planet have you been spending most of your time on? – If you call Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbags, and Rep. DeMinto from SC, and all the others badgering the President, and sending their minions to town halls with defaced pictures of the President, guns, etc. and lying about “death panels” – if you call that “being silent”, I don’t know what possesses you to consider yourself a blogger or a writer on politics. Perhaps you should consider writing about gardening, or bird-watching, or something less strenuous on the brain.
The Republicans voted in lock step and when the Democrats blocked things there were obstructionists. You are a hypocrite. No matter what the Democrats put forth the Republicans will fight against it. I say fine, if they want it that way cut them out. There are a lot of polls out there and many ways to interpret them.
A lot of us are very tired of healthcare companies and their CEOs getting between us and our doctors.
I see you pulled my comments very quickly. I used no profanity. The reason people are upset at these teabaggers is that they are yelling down people they disagree with. They are trying to take away the free speech of others. Freedom only seems to matter to you when you are talking about those that agree with you.
Thanks for putting my comments back up.
You will note, that you only named one active politician. Republicans have had no voice on Capitol Hill to speak of. And the media barely talks to them. Rush speaks at will…but his voice is only one of many.
We certainly will be against the public option. We don’t believe it will solve anything, why would we be for it?
I did not pull your comments… Unfortunately I work for a living. I just got around to ok’ing them. I NEVER delete any comments, unless they have some racist or profane statement that I think is over the top…actually, the comments I enjoy most are those that disagree with me. I hope you will continue posting here.
I’m a registered democrat, and I will take every opportunity to support an independent or republican in 2010, and 2012. There are democrats who have ‘common sense’ although, Obama doesn’t seem to be one. I supported him in 2008, and he will never get my support again. Honesty doesn’t seem to be important to him, and he is working ‘chicago type’ politics in the White House. Yes, this democrat wants to make sure he is a one term president. He is not supporting those of us who supported him, he is just out to get his way. Hopefully, he will not get his way in 2012. I’ve seen enough!
Mary, I can tell you…you are not alone. Obama can win people like you back, if he becomes the moderate he was in the election. I wouldn’t hold my breath, though.
For those of you defending the current healthcare plan/takeover- Will you be just as pleased and loyal to an administration that will be taking your hard earned 401ks, IRAs, and other private pensions plans to combine with Social Security and redistribute equally to all those on Medicare?
Actually, MJ, we shouldn’t trust anyone on either side of the isle anymore to do what’s right for the American people. It is more and more obvious that they all live in their own little “bubble” and have little if no regard for “We The People” other than trying to get our vote and stay in office. Washington is such a cesspool at this point it’s disgusting!!
Critics of Obama’s health insurance program complain about government bureaucrats coming betweem the patient and his doctor. They apparently would rather have an insurance-company “hack” coming between them and their doctor—one who is skilled in denying claims and cancelling policies.
