Sen. Ted Kennedy, R.I.P

Senator Ted Kennedy, the last of the great Kennedy generation, passed away last night at age 77. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetary, adjacent to his brothers John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy.
Senator Kennedy, despite his political beliefs, was one of the great Senators in American history. His life in the Senate spans 5 decades. He was too young to replace his brother, John F. Kennedy, as Senator of Massachusetts, but took over two years later. After the deaths of his older two brothers, he was the head of the family, and was a father figure both to President Kennedy, as well as Robert Kennedy’s children.
As a forever defender of liberalism, he can go unchallenged. Yet, there was a core belief in Kennedy that wanted consensus. He worked with many conservatives and Republicans over the years, from John McCain, Mitt Romney to George W. Bush, to achieve legislative successes. He was a liberal that is missing today…one that can work with the other side when need be.
Surely, Sen. Kennedy had the human frailities that we all have; maybe he had more than most. But today is not the day to revisit them.
My wishes to Ted Kennedy’s family. I may almost never have agreed with him on politics, but no one can deny that he spent a long and frutiful career in the service of his country and his family. We should all be able to honor that.

He left a young women to drown in his car while he went to his hotel to sleep it off. Witness stated that he had been drinking all day though he never admitted to it. Instead of going to the house that was 150 yards away or the fire station that he passed for help he instead went back to the party. Found friends that would lie for him and decided to call it a night. He was on the phone with friends seeking advice when they found his car. It was not till after they found the car that he went to the police. Once their he refused to talk to them and dictated a statement for them through a 3rd party. I’m sorry the man is dead, but he did get away with murder among other things.
