Enough is Enough: Harry Reid Should Step Down

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65wi22hB8q4

Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid has long been an embarrassment.  When he took over for former leader Tom Daschle, I first thought it was a joke.  Reid neither has the intelligence nor temperament to be the the leader of anything.

On the floor of the Senate Monday, Reid compared opposition to government reform of health care…to slavery.

Yes.  The enslavement of an entire ethnic group in America.  Equivalent to health care reform opposition.

What a fool.  Democrats should be ashamed.  Along with Nancy Pelosi comparing tea partiers as ‘Nazi-like’, the leaders of the Democrats in the House and Senate have broken the simplest of all rules in American politics:  do not compare any policy initiative, for or against, to slavery or the Holocaust.  Ever.

But the Democratic leadership, frankly, is not that smart.  They are very good at twisting arms and playing hardball, but on a basic common sense level, they are lost.  This is where Obama trascends them.  He knows what to say and when, and knows when to shut up.  Reid obviously hasn’t learned that lesson.

This, of course, if far from Reid’s first stumble.  In fact, outside of Joe Biden, no one in Washington has made a bigger fool of himself.  Reid claimed the Iraq were was ‘lost’ back in 2006.  Last week, Barack Obama highlighted Iraq as a war we are about to win, and the roadmap to success in Afghanistan.  Reid called President Bush a ‘loser’ to high school students, as Bush was overseas at a summit with Vladmir Putin.  I could add a litany of other idiotic statements, but why bother?

Consensus is now that Reid is a failure.  In his home state of Nevada, his negatives are around 50%.  That is higher than filandering and lying Sen. John Ensign.  That is pretty sad.  Not to mention, 56% of Nevadans are opposed to the current health care reform.  Thus, their senior senator just compared the majority of citizens in his own state to pro-slavery forces.  I am sure that will do wonders for his poll numbers.

It is an easy choice for Democrats.  If they continue to support Reid, then they are showing themselves as useless drones unwilling to castigate a member of their leadership for multiple transgressions.  If they oust him, they may not redeem themselves, but at least there is hope.  Politically, as a conservative, I hope they keep him.  It would be lovely for Republicans to run against such a fool in 2010.  But as for governing this country, no one with the idiocy of Harry Reid should be in any position of power.  He should step down from the Majority Leadership now.

What an amazing assertion from the party of ‘love and tolerance.’ Since when are Americans not allowed to have an opinion that differs from that of the ‘Royalty’ that rules us these days?!? These remarks truly are astounding in that these same people assume the high road of fairness, open mindedness and call themselves the saviours of the down trodden.

Simply put: this is sickening. Were the antiwar protestors wrong simply because they were against war? Did they have no right to their opinion?!? Though I will disagree with them many of my friends (who are now fighting) have little issue with them being against war. These men and women who are fighting have little deisre to die either.

Yet, here we are… Prince Harry says we are slavers and Princess Pelosi calls us Nazis because we have the nerve to disagree with them.

Let us remind these two: They come from ‘single parts’of this country. Though they may have duped their electorate this does not prove their worthiness to ruin a nation…

If only one of them would now say: “Let them eat cake”…
