Joe Wilson Was Right…

I was not Rep. Joe Wilson’s biggest fan after he cried out ‘You Lie’ during Obama’s Presidential address to Congress.  (You can see my original posts here).  I still believe that it was the wrong statement at the wrong time.

That said…I think factually, Joe Wilson was right.

President Obama has taken his logical ‘stretches’ to the breaking point.  It is no longer within the realm of reality to even call them a stretch.  They are out and out lies.

For example, this morning comes an interview from Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sibelius, where she clearly states that abortion funding will be paid by everyone in the exchange, not just those that want abortion coverage:

So in the end, Obama’s promise of not forcing people to pay for abortions…an out and out lie.

This is not the only lie…not stretch of the truth, but lie.  The funding argument is beyond recognition.  Obama states that the CBO has said this will reduce the deficit.  From Gateway Pundit:

PRESIDENT OBAMA: “The Congressional Budget Office Now Reports That This Bill Will Reduce Our Deficit By $132 Billion Over The First Decade And By As Much As $1.3 Trillion In The Decade After That.” (President Obama, Remarks, 12/21/09) “CBO Has Discovered An Error” That “Reduces The Degree To Which The Legislation Would Lower Federal Deficits”

CBO: “The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) Has Discovered An Error In The Cost Estimate Released On December 19, 2009, Related To The Longer-Term Effects On Direct Spending Of The Manager’s Amendment To The Patient Protection And Affordable Care Act (PPACA), Senate Amendment 2786 in the nature of a substitute to H.R. 3590 (as printed in the Congressional Record on November 19, 2009). Correcting that error has no impact on the estimated effects of the legislation during the 2010–2019 period. However, the correction reduces the degree to which the legislation would lower federal deficits in the decade after 2019.” (CBO Director Doug Elmendorf, Letter To Sen. Harry Reid, 12/20/09, P. 1)

CBO: “A Detailed Year-By-Year Projection For Years Beyond 2019, Like Those That CBO Prepares For The 10-Year Budget Window, Would Not Be Meaningful Because The Uncertainties Involved Are Simply Too Great.” (CBO Director Doug Elmendorf, Letter To Sen. Harry Reid, 12/19/09, P. 15)

And for the record, the CBO statements were released the day before Obama’s statements.

I simply have no comment on this anymore.  If the American public can’t see that their leadership lies to them on a daily basis, a little blogger like me is not going to convince them.  It is a sad statement of where the country is today.

The problem is our Media coverage. The newsflow would never look the way it does with someone else in office. The newsflow would be nearly 180 out of phase with where it is now if there were a Republican still in office. This coverage is a crime. This lack of journalistic honesty was never anticipated by the framers. However, these same people never would have believed that so many sources would be owned by so few interests.

How to convince everyone? Just keep trying!

  • Found your site from Free Republic. Nice blog you have here. Straightforward and intellectually honest. Blogrolling you at my site and would appreciate if you can do the same.

All the best for a conservative comeback in 2010.
